Hi there.
My name is Toby Wilks, and I am a Cambridge trained and qualified English language teacher. I have been teaching English language to a huge variety of foreign students for around seven years now, and I have taught in places such as Spain, Poland, Indonesia, and of course here in London. I like to conduct my lessons in a friendly and relaxed manner, focusing on whichever
skill(s) you feel that you need to practise.
Location
The location is up to you. I can come to your home, come and visit you at work, or we can even meet in a less formal place such as a cafe, or (on a nice, sunny day...) the park. If you decide that you would like to come to my home for the lesson, then the price per hour will be cheaper. Please see the Hourly Rates section at the bottom of the page for more details.
First Lesson
The first lesson is a chance for you and I to get to know each other, and during that time, I will be able to see which level of English you are at, and we can discuss what you would mainly like to focus on in your lessons. This is completely free of charge, and there is no obligation on your part to continue with the lessons in the future if you don't want to.
Your Choice of Lessons
The lessons can be based upon whatever aspect of the English language that you would like to focus on.
All skills can be taught, including:
Conversation Practice.
Pronunciation.
Vocabulary Building.
Grammar.
Reading (including examination preparation).
Writing (including examination preparation).
Length of Lessons
The lessons can range from one hour to two hours long, and we can meet as often as you like.
Lesson Times
Lessons are available from 9:00am until 19:00pm from Moday to Friday.
Levels Taught
I have had a lot of experience in teaching at all different levels, and will give lessons to students from any country at any level, including:
Beginners
Elementary
Pre-Intermediate
Intermediate
Upper-Intermediate
FCE (First Certificate)
CAE (Certificate of Advanced English)
CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English)
Business English
I can even prepare lessons for students who are between levels, e.g. a very high pre-intermediate student who is almost at the intermediate level.
I can also teach English with a specific focus, whether it be for business, work, or just one of your interests.
Examination Preparation
I can help you to prepare for exams or tests at any level, including:
KET (Key English Test)
PET (Preliminary English Test)
FCE (First Certificate in English)
CAE (Certificate of Advanced English)
CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English)
IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
TOEFL (Testing of English as a Foreign Language)
Business English
I have also had extensive experience in teaching business English, both in company and from schools, so I would have no problem whatsoever travelling to your workplace in order to conduct a lesson, or we can conduct the lesson in a more relaxed atmosphere. Again, it is completely your choice!!
Hourly Rates
If I come to meet you (at your home or your place of work): £25 per hour (including preparation time for the lesson and travel)
If you come to my home: £20 per hour
If you share the lesson with a friend: £22.50 per hour (if I come to you)
£17.50 per hour (if you come to me)
If you do share a lesson with a friend, then it is important that they are at the same level of English as you, otherwise neither of you will learn as much as you want to from the lessons.
